October
2000
What at great month for dressing up!
The weather was still beautiful in LA still lovely and warm, great for
outdoor parties.
Each year I always look forward to Earthdance
. This ia a party held every year on the 14th October
in 74 cities in 33 countries as a global event to promote four global
causes:
the environment, the indigenous peoples, the well being of children,
soap for Hippies and Tibet.
The LA location is in a park in the San Fernando Valley and our friends
Freddy Be and Nick Cole
are among the organizers. Strangely enough there are not many
outdoor events held in the city, so this is always
a great place to take a picnic, sit in the sun listening to some
lovely music.
After some aerobics the party got underway.
I was lucky enough to meet Valerie and her Monkey
Valerie who heads up the "Vibe Tribe" hails from San Diego and was kind
enough to invite me down
south to spend a colourful weekend with her at three very different
events.
Valerie is a very talented DJ. Spinning funky house and
trance whilst sporting
glamorous over the top costumes and a huge smile.
More photos from the weekend here.

Halloween
For me Halloween has historically been more of a day to be an observer
rather than a participant.
That is not to say I don't dress up, but my empathizes is more
on the enjoyment of other peoples
creativity than my own. It's also a great time of year to steal great
costume ideas.
This year Kirk re-introduced his annual Halloween party "Gourdgeous"
. Held in a warehouse in
Culver city with music from Derrick Star, KC, Brett , Brad and Keith.
This saw the
debut of some of the best b-sides costumes of the year.
Me and my monkey are caught in the act mid costume change.
An unrecognizable Lisa
Stacey with nurse
Jonathan and Dawn were a lovely treat for me
as they were visiting from San Francisco.
Jonathan is a rather strange Englishman who enjoys cross dressing!
There should be laws against this sort of thing!
West Hollywood Halloween Parade
300,000 people descended on West Hollywood for the annual Halloween
Carnival
to walk, gawk, dance and be fabulous and gay.
I had a really fun time. Went down with Corrie who was dressed in a
resplendent renaissance frock.
We arrived later in the evening and avoided the torture of the hoards
of people, met plenty of friends.
Took an obscene quantity of photos and ended the night at 3am drinking
oversized apple martinis
to celebrate Ann's birthday with Michelle and David.
On one of the coldest nights of the year I was nice and toasty in my
fur costume, some people made the sacrifice to look really good.

Mr. T from Burning man made a surprise appearance
I, for some unexplainable reason have had a soft spot for girls
in pretty ball gowns covered in a good
splattering of blood. Over the years at various halloween events
this costume has always caught my eye.
Where the attraction lies I don't know, it could be the contrast in
colours, the romantic appeal of a lacy prom dress,
tiara and the bucket of crimson blood. Anyway, I have collected
a nice selection of Carrie photo which can be viewed by going
here.
