Summer fridge magnet

This seasons magnet was a little rushed. Burning Man coincided with the end of summer. I had taken me a few weeks to finish making the feather wings and suit so I ended up up with one day to do the shoot and make the magnets. The wings were made from stiff foam with red and gold turkey plumage attached by glue. The suite was made of cream linen which I hand dyed to a crimson colour and then the feathers were attached. The only time I had to do the photo shoot were two days before I left for Burning Man, in the morning before before work. As it was last minute, I was lucky enough to have Michelle Luna agree to be the photographer. She freely admits that her camera skills are questionable, but using a progress of trail and error, and the technological advance of my new digital camera, out of the 70 pictures taken, a few turned out pretty well.

Unfortunately due to my haste in trying not to be late for work I was stopped by the Beverly Hills police department and given a ticket for making a U-turn in my street. The officer failed to mention the six foot feather wings strapped to the roof of the Rolls.

The building I chose this time was the Beverly Hills Civic Center, a beautiful complex build in the 1940's in the Spanish Mission style. Again this time I could not park the car at the correct angle out side the town hall so we picked a parking lot nearby and the final image was a composite.

One hundred and fifty magnets were made this time for gifts at Burning Man.
