Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I
(1965 - 1977)

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I, 1973
Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I, 1973, #SRH15353. The styling of the Silver Shadow was from Crewe's in-house styling department led by John P. Blatchley. Duo-tone colour was an option.

The company at Crewe released to the public their most innovative model in October 1965. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I featured unitary construction, independent rear suspension with automatic level control and disc brakes all round. Compared to previous models the absence of separate frame resulted in more room for the passengers, easier access for stowing luggage and drastically reduced height and weight. The 6.23 litre V8 engine's performance suffered to some extent from increasingly tight emission legislation in some countries which was made up for in 1969/70 with the engine's capacity increased to 6,750 cc. Perfect workmanship of all components and a comprehensively equipped interior of unashamed luxury were the hallmark of this fine motor car. From 1966 two door saloons were available and year later a convertible. Not before 1969 the series of R-R Silver Shadow I long wheelbase started.
